HELLO, is it me you’re looking for? Fans of superstar Lionel Richie know exactly where to find him after he announced he’s playing a show at Hove’s County Cricket Ground in June.

Tickets for the June 23 event, which is part of a UK summer tour, are now on sale. His support act has been announced as former Westlife star Shane Filan, now solo after scoring 14 No1 hits, 11 top 5 albums and more than 50 million records sold worldwide before the band split in 2012.

The singing superstar will delight fans by performing his greatest hits from his days with 70s funk/soul band The Commodores and as a solo artist, including Lady, Truly, Dancing on the Ceiling, Say You Say Me, Hello, which reached No1 in the UK, and All Night Long. He scored No1 hits in the UK with his 1983 album Can’t Slow Down and with the compilation albums Back To Front in 1992 and The Definitive Collection in 2003.

“I’ve been missing the UK and can’t wait to make my long awaited return and to see parts of the country I’ve never made it out to before,” says the star. “The fans are always incredible and they make the atmosphere at every show electric, so I look forward to singing along with them soon.”

Looking ahead to Lionel’s visit, Sussex Cricket’s chief executive Rob Andrew says, “We can’t wait to host Lionel and his fans for what will unquestionably be one of the highlights of the summer. The fact that a global superstar like Lionel has chosen us for his first ever visit to Sussex demonstrates how highly regarded The 1st Central County Ground is as a concert venue.

The dates including Hove are the star’s first UK shows since his All The Hits tour in 2013, which was followed by a performance on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2015 that drew the biggest crowd of the weekend and was watched by more than 200,000 people.

Among the many awards Lionel has amassed during his celebrated career are four GRAMMYs, a Golden Globe and an Oscar, as well as the prestigious Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Award and British GQ’s Icon Award .

In 2016, Lionel launched his on-going Las Vegas headline residency show, Lionel Richie—All the Hits, at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, where he takes his fans on a spectacular musical journey, performing a variety of his seminal hits. Having sold over 100 million albums worldwide, he recently joined the judging panel on ABC’s American Idol.
