A LANTERN-lit trail that will pop up in a park is part of a new festival designed to encourage people to visit Worthing.

The family-friendly Jack On The Green festival will see a lit trail of colourful lanterns and structures in the award-winning Beach House Park in Brighton Road.

Named after the park’s reputation as being the home of lawn bowls, it is the brainchild of Same Sky, the regional arts charity behind events such as Brighton’s Burning the Clocks and Children’s Parade, and supported by Worthing Borough Council.

John Varah, artistic director of Same Sky, says, “We are very excited to bring a unique lit event to the town’s lovely Beach House Park.

“We will be working with schools and families to populate the park with a host of colourful lanterns and lit games.”

Councillor Kevin Jenkins, Worthing Borough Council’s executive member for regeneration, says, “Same Sky have a reputation for delivering incredible community-led events. I’m sure that people from across the town and beyond will get involved to ensure Jack On The Green is a resounding success that will return to the town for future years.”

Jack On The Green festival takes place between 6pm and 8.30pm on Saturday and Sunday October 21 and 22. Same Sky will also host lantern building workshops in the park’s Palm Court Pavilion between 2pm and 4pm on both days.
