At the International Composers Festival, an introduction to orchestral music, six concerts performed over three days will feature some of the world’s most beautiful and exciting orchestral music written today. Events include Passion: the Grand Opening Concert at Opus Theatre at 7pm on Friday (tickets £15); Small Is Beautiful at De La Warr Pavilion at 10.30am on Saturday (tickets £10, £12 and £15); Soundscape, a cinematic journey with the Brighton Film Quartet, at De La Warr Pavilion at 1.30am on Saturday (tickets £10, £12 and £15); Camera, Sound, Play, which features thrilling music from films, TV and games with a large live festival orchestra and guest soloists, at De La Warr Pavilion at 7m on Saturday (tickets £15 and £18); Total Piano – East Meets West, when the Festival’s artistic director, composer Polo Piatti, is in conversation with young pianists Sunny Li of China and the UK’s Oliver Poole and with performances from both, at De La Warr Pavilion at 10.30am on Sunday (tickets £10, £12 and £15); Dance Around The World, the world premiere of the Crane’s wife, a specially commissioned ballet composed by Nobuya Monta and based on a traditional Japanese fairy tale, choreographed by Mayu Uesugi and performed by her ballet company coming especially from Japan, at De La Warr Pavilion at 4m on Sunday (tickets £10, £12 and £15);
