This annual programme of free fun activities for local people, their families and friends celebrating the diverse community of Brunswick Town is organised by a group of volunteers and local residents. It begins on Sunday August 12 with a Rural Day at St Ann’s Well gardens featuring a Scruffs dog show at 2pm, with categories including most handsome dog, best veteran, prettiest bitch, junior party trick, waggiest tail, dog that looks most like its owner and best in show. Registration costing £2 is at 1pm. There will also be creative and nature activities for children, puppet shows, arts and crafts, conservation and charity stalls, home made jams and chutney, craft stalls, strolling players and The Mid Sussex Brass Band playing from 4pm. During the Festival Weekend at Brunswick Square on Saturday and Sunday August 18 and 19, the family activities include live music, dance, circus skills, healing area, children’s activities, arts and crafts, a bustling market area with bric-a-brac, home made goods, vintage clothes, charity information stands and other stalls, a world food area, a tea tent with homemade cakes and the Brunswick Tavern tent with real ale, cider, wine, beer and Pimms.
