Ropetackle Arts Centre, Little High Street, Shoreham-by-Sea
Saturday October 6, 8.30pm
A fitting location for Southwick poet and multi-instrumentalist Attila to launch his new album, Restoration Tragedy, with his new band. The story of Charles II’s escape to France from Shoreham in 1651 is well known – but it is told for the first time from the point of view of the Levellers and radicals who wanted to catch him and end the monarchy once and for all. The songs fit the period: early music meets acoustic punk played on crumhorn, cornamuse, strings and recorders, guitar, bass and drums. The music is preceded by a set of Attila’s fiery and thoroughly modern poetry. This event is part of Shoreham Wordfest 2018.
