Julian Trevelyan: The Artist and his World

Pallant House Gallery, 9 North Pallant, Chichester

Saturday October 6-Sunday February 10

This is the first survey exhibition in 20 years of British artist Julian Trevelyan (1910-1988).  opens at Pallant House Gallery in autumn 2018. A painter, printmaker and designer, Trevelyan was experimental throughout his life and created an important and original body of work that was influenced by European modernist movements yet entirely his own. The exhibition brings together 90 paintings and prints, as well as rarely seen sketchbooks, letters and photographs that emphasise Trevelyan’s extensive contribution to mid-20th century British art. Surveying the broad scope of his career, the exhibition will examine Trevelyan’s early Surrealist works, his depictions of the industrial north of England as part of the Mass Observation project, his fascination with foreign places and his years in London, when he lived and worked alongside the River Thames and taught printmaking at the Royal College of Art. Picture of Julian Trevelyan: Sandra Lousada/RCA.

Joan Collins - Unscripted

Assembly Hall, Stoke Abbott Road, Worthing

Wednesday February 20, 7.30pm

Tickets from £40.50

Legendary actress Dame Joan reveals some of the exciting stories and secrets from her long career. This ageless beauty, with dry wit and a wry, knowing smile, who became a household name during the 80s on the long-running US soap Dynasty, will present an intimate first person narrative, of a behind-the-scenes tell-all on her life, loves and Hollywood, delivered with her usual healthy cynicism and fun outlook. The RADA-trained star first appeared on the big screen in 1950s Hollywood, and in the late 70s appeared as a sexy siren in The Bitch and The Stud, written by her sister, the award-winning novelist Jackie Collins. Moving from big screen to TV in the early 80s, Joan joined the cast of Dynasty. In 2015 Collins was made a Dame and has toured her Audience With shows. She returned to stage and screen, including playing the fictitious Queen Mother in the E! spoof soap The Royals. She is the patron of numerous charitable activities including campaigns for Unicef and has her own Timeless Beauty cosmetics range. 2018 will see Dame Joan join the cast of American Horror Story. This show will include an audience Q&A session.
