Addictive TV: Orchestra of Samples

Duo Addictive TV present their global project Orchestra of Samples, which brings people together from around the world digitally. They sample, combine and reimagine more than 200 musicians from 30 countries to create new music of extraordinary unique fusions crossing multiple styles and cultures. Six years in the making, the pair filmed improvised recordings while touring, sampling and splicing them together to create new music. The result is a digital supergroup who never met, but play together on screen with a range of unusual localised instruments from sessions recorded in Brazil, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Senegal, Colombia, India, across Europe and even Bhutan in the Himalayas.

African Night Fever – Sona Jobarteh

Sona Jobarteh is Africa’s first female virtuoso of the kora, a west African harp traditionally played by male griots or musicians. She stands as she plays and is also a singer, fronting the four-man Afro Beat Group. She has worked alongside international acclaimed artists such as Oumou Sangaré, Toumani Diabeté, Kasse Mady Diabeté and The BBC Symphony Orchestra.

The Blues Band, which features the five virtuosos Paul Jones, Dave Kelly, Tom McGuinness, Rob Townsend and Gary Fletcher, are celebrating their 40th year with a performance of blues music. Many of The Blues Band’s 21st century fans weren’t even born when these music industry veterans decided to fly in the face of musical fashion in 1979 and form a band ‘just to play the blues’.  Since then, they have released 20 albums and played thousands of gigs.
